Hail to you Set, Lord of the South, Lord of the Desert — the Red Lands of Khemet.

You tore from the side of your Mother, Nut, in fire and lightning, and descended upon Earth in a rush of heat and wind.

You struck the desert with your double-strength, and sent forth darkness, storms, thunder, and lightning upon the Two Lands.

Oh, Set, Lord of Iron with the fiery mane, turn not your storms upon us, turn aside your thunder to strike in the heart of the desert!

Guide us through the night, oh Set, strengthen us for the journey to the stars of Meskhenti that never sets.

Provide us the wisdom to see our betrayals, as you saw your brother betray you with the taking of Nephthys, defiling your sister and consort.

Oh, Set, of the red hair, like the sands you rule, lend us your courage to deliver the justice required in our times of doubt, as you once had to slay your own brother, Osiris, for his trespass against your consort.

Give us your cunning so that we may convince those who would judge us that our crimes are just, as you did with Isis, wife of your brother, though kin-slayer you are.

Hold up the ladder, oh Set, that we may climb to the imperishable stars and become reborn!

Sail upon the night boat of Re, Akhemu-seku, and defend us from the evil minions of Apep!

Give us reprieve from the descendants of your vengeful nephew, Horus, for he yet pursues you for the justice you dispensed.

We thank you for the gift of intoxication that you brought us through the magic of beer and wine.

Hear our prayer, oh mighty set, that one of your wayward finds her way back to our den. She strays close, but is wary of your servants and is keen of eye and mind. Blinded by the treachery of her master’s hand, she shies away from your embrace, though she follows your footsteps in the Duat unknowingly. Guide us, Lord of the South, that we might return her to the fold with the mysteries she has learned, so that you may come forth by night, again.
