In America, crime isn’t just a thing that happens, it’s an institution. One could argue we can’t have a polite, functioning society without it. You could even say all Kindred are criminals, simply by virtue of the blood we steal. Indeed, feeding is often violent, messy, and done by people with an extreme lack of panache and skill, but it doesn’t have to be. Likewise, criminals can be better than simple beasts, better than brutes and petty thugs at the very least. For some, crime is an art, a practiced craft carried out by masters. Since crime is here to stay, perhaps we have a moral obligation to elevate ourselves? 

Our members include criminals from all ranks, everything from con artists to the fanciest feather-fingered pickpocket, cat burglars, mobsters, and everything in between. Kindred and criminals just fit together, and we are naturally some of the world’s greatest thieves without even trying. In our public lives, we value secrecy; The Masquerade prohibits such flashy personas and displays. Think of us more as premium procurers and tradesmen just with a little avarice sprinkled in for good measure. We also work to keep those of the mortal realm far away from discovering our existence. 

We recognize that like most trades, crime is an art and every artist has to master their unique stroke.
