At its debut, it was lit by a hundred thousand lamps provided by Nikola Tesla, a miracle of light and illumination that sprung to life at the press of a button by President Cleveland. Ferris’ first ever wheel, a towering mass of steel and masterwork of engineering, provided the perfect vantage from which to view the gleaming White City and the sprawling gardens surrounding it. The statue of the Republic welcomed the best of humanity, arms aloft to greet all who came together to share the ways they had been inspired to build, grow, and change. The ideals, principles, and spectacle of our World’s Fair linger in the hearts and minds of any prone to wonder. We, the Promethean Conclave, ask ourselves: why shouldn’t the enlightened minds of our time come together once again to build a better world?
