The sand shifts in the night as a small cadre of folk emerge from the desert. While their footfalls are scarcely audible, their presence provokes rumor and suspicion in the neon glow of the City of Sin. They enter the city, a group too small to be a raiding party, too many to be scouts, yet traveling too openly to be anything nefarious. Yet all know who they are: Sabbat, and they are simply walking into the city.
The Sabbat’s Gehenna Crusade was a mass mobilization effort aimed at directing the full fury of the Sword of Caine toward the Middle East. One by one, packs were summoned and sent overseas. Little communication followed, and rumors spread. Death. Violence. Sand. Blood. The months ran into years; few returned. More packs were called upon. Fear. Misdirection. Conscription. Additional theaters opened in Europe and South America. Terror. Sacrifice. Lies…. Enough. What began as a handful of packs became a movement of its own. Dissent. Desertion. And soon, an exodus seeking shelter.
Beyond the neon lights of Las Vegas, others cautiously wait as the first pack enters the city limits. Will they accept us, they wonder, as they take shelter from the desert’s sun in makeshift shelters and temporary havens. Perhaps they will remember we once fought together for the good of all, long, long ago.
