Many decades ago, the children of the clan of death came upon the neon-lit city of Las Vegas, full of wealth and opportunity, and made for themselves a home ; And all the progeny that came out of the fangs of death were prosperous. Their wealth increased abundantly, and multiplied, and the banks were filled with it. All rejoiced and gave praise unto Dis Pater, god of wealth and of death.
Then there arose a new Prince over Vegas, who by the ancient laws could not rule over the children of death. Though he coveted their wealth and power he was shrewd and he said unto his people, “Behold, the kindred of the clan of death are more numerous and wealthier than we; Come, let us deal wisely with them; lest they become also our enemies, and fight against us.” And so the Prince left the clan of death to build their city of treasure and power and did not interfere, and so all was well.
Then there came a terrible calamity, a torrent of fire and brutality swept through Vegas causing the clan of death to flee; taking with them only what they could carry. The clan of death was sage and strong; they secured all they had built that they might return. They knew that all that was theirs would remain once the embers had been smothered, as it had been bestowed upon them by the god of wealth and death.
But in the lands beyond, an enemy grew, free and wild, and set its designs upon the meadows. This enemy met a faraway Prince of the city of wind and smoke, and in this far off city a deal was struck. Thus was the neon-lit city of Las Vegas promised to different rulers, and none spoke up for the children of the clan of death whose wealth remained, awaiting their return.
With the danger passed, the clan of death, not subject to any Prince, could now return to their seat of plenty. But the new enemy uplifted a trinity of leaders to wrest control over the meadows: the veteran, the showman, and the serpent. Together with the clan of death, they could have lived in peace, were it not for the serpent’s greed.
The serpent saw how the clan of death had once thrived in the meadows. She sought to take the wealth of the clan of death in the name of her people, and declared that the ancient laws did not apply to her rule. She forbade the clan of death from reclaiming the wealth bestowed upon them by god, thus their coffers did wane.
And so a childe of the clan of death comes to the throne of the serpent and her fellows to demand the rightful return of the children’s birthright. If she does not, she shall see the first sign as blood turns to water in her mouth and the mouths of all who follow her.
