The War of Ages may grow quiet at times, but it never ceases. Most nights, it is fought in the struggles between the young, as neonates fight in back alleyways for scraps of territory. With the occasional court, the ancillae join the fray, contesting matters of status and prestation, and battling for control over resources. It is only during the rare event of a conclave or summit that the truly powerful take the field, and that is when real change occurs.
The Convention of Thorns, The Treaty of Tyre, the Convention of Waterloo, the Conclave of Prague, and now the Windy City Summit — These meetings are the signposts of kindred history, and their events ripple throughout centuries, shaping tales still being written.
The proposed summit involves a tense negotiation between old enemies during difficult times. For it to succeed, it requires a neutral party to facilitate; someone who commands the respect of both parties. Kindred history has seen only a small handful of truly effective peacemakers, and perhaps none is as respected as the renowned seer and legendary mediator Durga Syn, whose counsel helped bring an end to the Anarch Revolt so long ago.
Amidst heightened tension between sects, Zlato, childe of Durga Syn, has come to Chicago to continue his respected sire’s work to guide supernatural societies to some semblance of harmony.
“Prince Jackson,
I have heard of the upcoming efforts to unite warring bands of our people. I have heeded the call to harmony, and so I make my way to your domain. Long have I aided my sire in her endless work to guide us on the path to peace. Chicago exists as a beacon for our cousins of all walks, so I intend to nurture your efforts as mediator, to honor my sire and continue her good works. I have heard tell of the turmoil your city faces. I am prepared for the work ahead and hope you are as well.”
– Zlato
As all eyes turn toward Chicago, perhaps the Anarchs and Camarilla can focus on the task at hand, guided by a calm voice and a steady hand. Or perhaps a larger than life figure casts an even greater shadow, someone with a storied past, and a collection of enemies. After all, one never knows who will attend these sorts of things.
